In 1990? Sure about that?
The Saab MonteCarlo Convertible came to in 1991, in limited edition in 300 pcs - worldwide! Shortly after, in 1992 the colour was added to "normal" cars too, and there are few 3Door and 5 Door cars running still in Sweden. A 3Door T16 has been for sale here recently, we have at least one fairly crappy 900S LTT 5-door running in the city.
I dont think any were made, at least for Sweden, in 1990....
There are rumors about at least one 900 Aero Coupe in MonteCarlo yellow, it was sold internally for Saab employees, but few has seen it live.....
The chance to meet a 3door or 5door MonteCarlo yellow in Sweden today are close to miniscule. (spelling?) _________________ 5x C900 Turbos Including 2x Aero and MonteCarlo-Edition. |

I'm sorry I can't be of any more help, but I can at least confirm what Caspar says. There used to be a site called fastenbelts.com, with a "your saab" upload-gallery with different Saabs. And this car/photo was uploaded there. Unfortunately I don't remember much of the text accompanying the photo.. But I seem to remember, like Caspar, that the owner claimed it to be a saab original Monte Carlo edition. (I also remember a photoshopped version of the same photo, where someone tinted the windows, lowered it to the extreme, and made the superaeros look like 17" )
When you clicked on "Your Saab" on the menu to the left, it used to redirect you to the already mentioned webpage, but not anymore..

| There are certainly two Monte Carlo yellow C900s that are not convertibles near where I live. The colour is rare - that is for certain. |

I know now there is ONE MonteCarlo Coupe that is original T16S / Aero in Sweden. But there is no more, only really one... Then of course there are at least one, probably more, "normal" Turbos in Yellow, but I dont count those.
Hoping to see the yellow in the Picture above irl very soon!!! Its indeed a 1990 Aero in Yellow, seems to be a test-car for a series of 40 or so cars that were sold to the US (?). This one stayed on, and was bought by owner in 1997 from Saab-hands. It has done 190.000 kms which is really not that much. It resides only 1h drive from me, very funny really, only a couple of hundred meters from where my friend lived for 2 years some years ago... Small world. If I had known then....

....just about now. Ive seen it, Ive driven it, Ive hade coffee in the owners livingroom and Im hoping to buy it soon - pending he can live without it.
So whats the real story? The car is colour code 199 - testcolour! Its not really MonteCarlo, but lighter. Dont think its faded, because its pretty the same all over. The hood is not nice, has been poorly repainted many years ago due minor collission. Somebody very recently "keyed" the car all over right side, from hood, all over door and back to the Vent-outlet. M-----r f-----r..... Who can do such a thing to THIS car???
Anyway, its basically an easy project, no rust to talk about really. Just lots of small work needed. Its done only 20.000 kms since 1997... Meaning about 4 full tanks a year for 12 years... That further means no rust as all the mileage was done longdistance in short period of time. THe engine bay is almost as good as my MonteCarlo!!!! Only the engine pars are showing a bit of wear and tear, as they should with 190.000 kms on the meter.
So back to the topic - sorry if this turned out to be a project-post now. The car is the only one in Sweden. THere are rumors about 1991 and 1992 cars too, but they are gone, not in the Registry anymore, or they are not registered as Aeros although factory equiped with all the stuff. But also those cars are not seen or heard of - this car has been seen and heard off, in the picture above posted saab.net or something like that by owner many years ago.
Just for the record - I havent posted on any Swedish forums that Ive found this car, keeping a low profile on this until its all done as I just guess more people would wanna get it. So enjoy this exclusive info on the Special Edt Forum.
So what do you think - shall I buy it? _________________ 5x C900 Turbos Including 2x Aero and MonteCarlo-Edition. |

Go for it, it looks absolutely stunning. Surprisingly goodlooking engine compartment after 190000 km!
Buy it, and do it now ;) I'm almost getting nervous on your behalf that someone comes by and buy it before you get the chance to. Hurry, I can't stand this excitement for long _________________ 99T16 - project

Sorry!!! Didnt mean to put you in this stress.... I had som serious problems to fall asleep as well, I was going over all the details in my head, and making a small budget on the cash required to make it really good. Apart from the scratch on the right side there is really nothing major to do.
I will keep you posted. The owner is having som serious anxiety about letting it go, but Im hoping cash and the awareness somebody will actually take care of the car will make it easier for him....
Now I have to work.. Will have some major difficulties doing that today, my thoughts are behind the wheel of the YellowAero.... _________________ 5x C900 Turbos Including 2x Aero and MonteCarlo-Edition. |

Got it! Picking it up tomorrow! It turned to be just a little more expensive than hoped for, but what the hell. Unusual things dont come cheap as the Greeks used to say. (or was it maybe someone else? )
Will return with more info and pics. _________________ 5x C900 Turbos Including 2x Aero and MonteCarlo-Edition. |
