Update! Right side Sill done!

This is how it looked like before: (pic shows left side, but right side was just as bad)

And the result:

Im very satisfied Smile Sorry if i keep my text so short, im not that good at writing long stories in English (i think the terms for all the car parts are the most tricky thing). More pictures to come!

Update! Now the right side inner wheel housing is welded into position. Fits like new Smile

First we had to take car of some rust:

And then we removed the paint on the wheel housing and prepared it with special paint for welding:

Here you can see our rig for keeping the engine mountings stabilized.

And then we started the welding:

A little video of the result: http://saab.doda.se/Forum/090213_Trubbnos_H%f6_innersk%e4rm_svetsad_xvid.avi

This was all for now, next step will be fixing the rightside front floor (you know the place near the wheel that always is bad)

Cheers,
Henrik

Soldering is something you do with soldering iron and it usually involves electronics or something like that. The thing you do with your car at the moment is welding..Smile

Henrik - Your written English is almost perfect and I will say it is a lot better than I might read on many English forums written by first language speaking English people Embarassed In fact, I can tell you are a "foreigner" because you write the language so well ... that goes for Cyber, too Wink

If I had to speak to either of you in your languages, I would manage to say "hello" with a funny accent and then probably ask for the menu or tell you that I am a goat, or something equally nonsensical Twisted Evil

Haha, ok.. Thank you Smile All those years behind a computer (and my M.Sc.E.E degree of course) has payed off i guess, but some parts are really tricky to find the name on! I have studied alot of electronics, but not so much mechanics. I actually open up EPC (Saab Electronic Parts Catalogue) and choose the part in thinking about and then i switch to English sometimes.. Hehe Smile

This is how it looked yesterday:

The rear right jack support was fixed today. See any difference? Laughing

Rear right wheel-housing is being attacked next Smile

Im getting a donor car on thursday which i hope is good so i can take the plate above the tank and also the upper fixation of the rear springs.

Somethings missing here?

Maybe one of these:

All for today Smile

Cheers

I've had a lot of that kind of work done on my Orca in the past. It's good to see what I actually pay for. I just leave my garage to do what it needs and pick up the bill. I really really wish I had started out like this and done a thorough job.

Once day, I'll get my dream Classic 900 - a 900CD and do a total bare metal restoration on it. I'll keep dreaming and reading this thread Laughing

A 900 CD would be really cool yes! They were sold in UK too?

Here is an update of my car project, more things people dont usually do to their cars Smile

It started with that we found a lot of rust on the beam (its called that?) that also holds the upper fixation of the rear springs:

I guess normally you would just replace the small part that is bad, but we went one step further... I got a 900i 5-doors car for free to cut in smaller pieces just to get a better beam without need to cut it Smile Seems also the rear-axle was good so i can use that on my aero.

Some more cutting and the rear floor was off:

Now began the fun part to remove the beam from the floor, and the reason i cut out such a big piece is because i might need more to fix my trunk. After a lot of time and sweat it was finally off and now i have left it at a company to blast off the rust and put a layer of zinc on it. So now it will last Smile

Then i started to remove the same beam on my car and also the beam in the rear left wheelhouse, went pretty smooth when i dont have a right wheelhouse in the back! Good surprise was that the plate was actually really good beneath the beam in the wheelhouse (and i dont have the inner piece new, just the outer and the beam).

To be continued Smile

BR,
Henrik
