Can't complain too much about the directionals on the 'vert as they were free with new Pirellis on them and were a huge improvement over the 15-spoke turbo wheels.
Currently the 16" Aero wheels have 205s on them. I'm going to test fit them next week when the 'vert comes out of storage. If they rub, I'm just gonna leave the Aero 92s on the car as I really don't feel like buying another set of tires. _________________ Brad Lauzze

Directional Aero (the Turbo '92 wheel) is my second favourite SAAB wheel for the Classic 900 after the Super Inca.
I do like the standard Aero, but for me it's a bit too common. I'm an odd character - I tend to like things that other people don't ... which is usually good when it comes to buying things
When it comes to the 16" wheels, it's the rear shocks that are the trick. Also, you should extend the bump stops, which means pack them with washers behind the rubber part. 205 width should be okay, but people do report better success with 205/45 ratio and lowered springs (for look) with hard shocks (for practicality) ... if your spine can take it
Either way ... if they don't work on the 'vert, run out the tyres on the Super Aeros on your 9000 and buy a ratio more suited to the 900 next time. Directional Aeros look fine on the 'vert. |

So, Greg and I were in the CSE leaving the bank at lunch today, we had just backed out of our parking spot and were in drive leaving the parking lot when this dumbass of a 17 year old in his mom's Ford Ranger backed right into the right rear quarter panel of my CSE...
Yeah...
So I put it in park Greg jumps out of the car and as I am getting out, the kid tries backing around my car to take off only to hit the other side of my car taking out the left tail light...
At this point he stops, pulls back into the spot, Greg calls the cops while I get the insurance cards out and such.
The first thing out of the cops mouth when the witness/Greg and I tell him what happened are:
"What, hitting him the first time wasn't good enough for you?"
Anyways, here's the shitty camera phone pic of the damage to the passenger side. Driver side is scuffed up pretty good and I have a cracked tail light.
The car is at Dorschel's body shop awaiting estimate, in the meantime, we just got back from picking up the convertible out of storage so that I have something to drive...

| That is bad news ... I hope it gets fixed. I have a feeling the 9000 is a good rock, like the C900, so fixing it up should be fine. |

The body shop estimate for the 9000 is $3500 as of right now. At this point one of two things is going to happen, either A, his insurance will be paying to have my car fixed, or B, they will total the car and the money that I get from that will be put towards a 9000 Aero. Either way, I have my convertible to fall back on so I'm not overly worried about it as of right now. _________________ Brad Lauzze

'95 9k CSE should cost a bit more that 3500$ (at least here.. , I bought my '96 2.3T for ~5400 according to current exch. rates), so for insurance it would be reasonable to fix it. But yeah, its quite ugly, whole rear panel has to be replaced, theres no place to just pull out dents. |

My CSE was a Saab company car that I bought for $5,000.00 and it has only 80,000 miles on it.
We're playing the waiting game right now with the kid's insurance company. More to follow... _________________ Brad Lauzze

Well Greg and I swapped the 16" Aero wheels over to the convertible yesterday...
It's safe to say that I'm not a big fan of those wheels on that car so after the 9000 gets fixed (fingers crossed) they will going back on that car and the 15" Aero 92s will be going back on the convertible (unless I happen upon some Super Incas...) _________________ Brad Lauzze

| Good plan - it might have worked. Was the ride awful, or did you just not like the look of it? I think the Turbo 92 wheels look great on convertibles. On a white one, though, Super Incas would look awesome! |

The ride was actually considerabley better with the 16" wheels, I just didn't like hitting harsh bumps and having them rub on the fender flares.
As for the look, it makes the car look so much more agressive.
Maybe some new shocks/springs to replace the aging originals are in order... _________________ Brad Lauzze

In the spirit of resurrecting old threads, I was flipping through some flicker photos and noticed this:

The elusive Monte Carlo Yellow T16S Aero convertible with the Aero badge next to the license plate. Does anyone know who owns this car? _________________ Brad Lauzze
