That is bad news ... you say your parts car had all the bits to fix it up - is that a temporary thing, or is the convertible now repaired and in a good state to re-fit the bodykit?

Here is what happened. I was heading north on one of the 4 lanes here in Rochester, it was raining, I hit some water at 50 mph, hydroplaned across the northbound lanes, the median, the southbound lanes and an exit ramp. Didn't hit a thing until I went through a chain link fence, and took out a pair of 3 foot tall pine trees. The fence sheered off my lip spoiler, my foglights and the driver side bumper extension and bent the an tie rod end. It also claimed, my hood edge strip, and punched a few holes in my front bumper. I was able to limp back to work, and immediately proceeded to pull the bumper w/fog lights, and the suspension parts that I needed to begin repairing my car.

The car is now completely fixed, sporting a freshly refinished bodykit, a brand new convertible top (courtesty of my parts car,) a new front bumper with foglights and headlamp wipers that serve no purpose other than looks, a turbo_S badge courtesty of Paradise Saabs, AND a brand new hood edge strip (courtesy of the guy who sold me my 9000 and just happened to have a brand new C900 hood strip in his garage even though he's never owned a 900.)

Pictures to come when the weather clears, it's been raining here alot and to be honest, I'm not too keen on having the convertible out in the rain again. Embarassed

Well it would appear that my convertible will be seeing a little snow this year...

As part of a kick-off celebration for the 2008 9-3s as well as a new members night for Saab Owners Association of Rochester. Greg and I have to put our T16s out on the display pad in front of the Saab showroom at work. I wish my car was black, then it could be inside with the rest of the cars as the party's theme is "Black Turbo".

It should be interesting as we're hoping to have an all-original '78 99 Turbo, a black '96 9000 Aero, and two or three 9-3 2.0T and V6 Aero models (all in black.)

On a side note:

Orca, I was googling images of classic 900 convertibles and stumbled onto what I can only assume is a part of this site with a picture of that yellow T16S convertible with the 'Aero' badge next to the license plate and remembered that I hadn't posted the larger picture that I have. I just got the book back so I'll be hooking up my scanner and adding that to my saabpics gallery in a little while.

Here is the link to the larger picture of the MYC T16S 'Aero' convertible:

If you need to enlarge it there should be a tab that says "See Full Size Image".

Thanks Brad - that's much clearer. Yes, without doubt - that is an Aero logo off a 9000.

Not a problem, sorry it took so long (I pointed it out last October Embarassed )

My convertible got rebadged (yet again) while in storage. I found an "APC System" badge on ebay a few weeks ago for $6.00 and replaced my old "16 Valve" badge and removed the "turbo" badging from the sides of the hood. Now my trunk lid looks something like this:

http://saabpics.com:3000/gallery2/v/SaabDriver87/T16SAero/900+turboS+apc+system.jpg.html

or this:

http://saabpics.com:3000/gallery2/v/SaabDriver87/T16SAero/turboS+apc+system+badge.jpg.html

I got a little carried away with the 3M adhesive that I used and the pictures were taken on my camera phone. It looks alot better in person.

Excellent! The APC System badge was placed in exactly that orientation on the first APC equipped cars in 1983 - they were, of course 8V cars and I think since the 16 Valve badge was introduced, it's nice to have a badge that could be applied to the 8V in the same manner.

My Orca had the APC system badges on the side of the bonnet/hood when I first got it - they were applied by the former owner.

Here's a last picture before it was re-sprayed:

I had never really seen the APC System badge on any cars. I had even tried looking it up in my Saab Electronic Parts Catalogue with no luck. Ebay was the first time I had ever seen it and as soon as I saw it, I was like *CLICK* But it now Smile

I also scored a wood trim window switch pack straight from one of the old accessory books for $10 which I could not believe. Now if only I could fine the wood dash finish and the glove box trim...

My EPC goes back to 1986 so it's not present on the emblems page.

Here's a quick snap from my '1983 SAAB 900 with APC' Brochure:

Same here with my EPC. My car is definitely gonna stand out a little at the gatherings this year.

Just got of the phone with my mom and as part of my birthday present next month, she's getting me custom plates for the convertible which will read "T16SAERO", I'm pretty excited.

In typical Greg-fashion, my roommate is getting plates for his Aero that will read "T16 AERO"

And now it's time for me to get some opinions fellow C900 drivers...

I have a set of 16" Aero wheels from a '93.5 9000 Aero. They're the ones with the polished lip and graphite colored centers. Currently, they're sitting on my 9000, while the convertible has my directional Aero 92s...

My question to you is:

Should I switch them up and put the 16 inchers on the converitble?

I think 82-83 had the "APC-system" badge, perhaps they removed it when introducing the T16. I have atleast one APC badge at home, and will probably never use them. Anyone wants it? Smile

Oh yes ... on white with the bodykit, they'll look super-fly. The Turbo '92 wheels will look fine on the 9000 Aero (are they 5.5" or 6", BTW? ... might need to rethink wheel choice for the 9000).

The set that I currently have on the convertible are the 6" wide ones, as I don't have a complete set of the 5.5s.

OT: geesh... I looked at Orcas last picutre and first thing I noticed, was writing "mental as italian soprano".. Laughing I thought WFT, why they compare classics to those guys..Smile

On topic again: Definitely put 16" on convertible..But they might need 195/50 tires. wider ones might start rubbing against body. Friend of mine had this problem with 16" superaeros on cabrio...

Directionals are just plain ugly. ;)
