|
|
Hi guys - I am sorry it has been so long since I have done anything towards getting the Special Editions website back online, but I have had a very busy year and I just couldn't bear to look at the website. I have considered handing it over entirely to someone else and after discussing this with a few potential new owners I have decided not to.
Over the last couple of days I have been looking at the website offline and thinking through how I can get it back online. I came down to the following few steps:
1. Remove any content that clutters up the purpose and place that on the weblog: http://c900se.wordpress.com/ ... which is open to the public again and open to any other new authors. If you would like to become an author, just let me know here or by e-mail and I can add you into the link. You will need to be a Wordpress member, though.
2. Streamline the website as it stands. There are too many sections, it's cluttered and does not contain a disclaimer on every page I am pleased to tell you guys that I have now finished this and I am happy with how it presents itself offline.
3. The big step - check all content and remove any that I cannot track down the owner. I know this will remove a lot of the pictures, but that is exactly why I had to take it offline last time
So, this third and final stage I am working on now and hope to have the website back online soon. Bear with me ... |

Bravo Paul !
What a good news !
And it's a good idea to invite others people to contribute to the site .
Personnaly , I'm now the co-author of SaabHuy.Net and that's already something .
But you can count on me to transmit to you any new material about the 900's .
Cheers ,
Jeff _________________

Great news!
I will happily contribute pictures of my red T16S 1992, (if the T16S can be considered special edition... They were quite rare....) and the MonteCarlo/Anniversary Edition 1991 with special badge etc. _________________ 5x C900 Turbos Including 2x Aero and MonteCarlo-Edition. |

Thanks for the encouragement, guys ...
To clarify, I want the Special Editions website to be just that ... nothing but a list of special editions for the Classic 900. I will use the weblog as the place for all sorts of interesting miscellanea for the Classic 900.
In the future, I want to expand the Special Editions website to show off all the standard features for the Classic 900 - body shapes, bodykits, spoilers, steering wheels, grilles, etc. That's for the future - for now, I just want to get the list of special editions back online.
The weblog is the place for all sorts of interesting things and as I said, if anyone wants to contribute there, just let me know and I can add your Wordpress username in there as an author.
Some of the pictures will have to be removed. I can only really use ones I have written permission to use and unfortunately, I have lost a lot of emails sending in pictures, so I don't know where a lot of them came from. It might look a little bare at first, so can I ask you guys to help me out and fill in blanks where you see them? Thanks |

If you did get permissions in the past for using those photos , the permissions still work for today if you use them for the same reasons and for a similar website as before , no ?
Will there be a link or an attachment between the forum and the website ? _________________

Here is the problem - someone sends me an e-mail with a picture in it. I use that picture and then the person who actually owns the picture contacts me. They do not have to offer any proof and the normal thing to do is simply remove the picture. Job done - this has always worked perfectly well and is usually called "a takedown notice".
When dealt with in an adult manner and in open conversation the matter is always resolved amicably and I have always found that the person who claims the picture to be theirs is more than happy to provide a better picture for the website and sometimes they like their name underneath as a credit. Sometimes they prefer to remain anonymous.
My problem now is that I never tracked which pictures have permission, who did not want their name under the picture and so on ... I really need to go back to square one and start chasing things up. In the first instance, I might just decide upon a new layout for the pages and leave large blanks in there offering for people to send in pictures - that is where I would need your help and if you happen across such a picture on your forum travels, you can point the person to my website and hopefully they can fill in the blanks. That's not the only problem, though.
A further problem is where a company or the parent company of a company they bought gets the huff. That's a different matter and they don't take kindly to correspondence other than with legal professionals. I need to be more than careful about that, too.
I think the basic template with lots of blanks and my text is going to be the way forward. I know that's quite poor, but at least it gets the site on quickly and hopefully word will spread quite rapidly that people will send in content. I obviously have a good idea of the content that needs to be on each page, so each page will format itself easily. |
