Guys ... I am sorry - getting the website back online is proving very time consuming and really frustrating me with the little bits of work that I do. I want to bring in a new template and give off a little more polish to the site.

I also need to cover myself and any future owner/maintainer from legal issues and really tighten up on the visual content used; even the brochure scans and the logotype could come under scrutiny from GM/SAAB Crying or Very sad

I wonder about just putting the index back online for now, without links, so that at least it is present again. I have thought about just stripping all the pictures out and mocking up a kind of "it could look like this if there were some pictures" kind of pages. Anyway, to cut a long discussion short, what is the minimum I could get away with to get the site back online? Would just the descriptions suffice?

Pictures are really needed, just the text doesnt really give you enough information. But you have a lot of pictures taken on cars owned by enthusiasts, and these pictures must be ok to have on the page, or?

The problem is that I received all the pictures in good faith - there are literally only a handful that have been sent/commissioned direct. One particular picture that I received in good faith ended up the subject of copyright issues from the real owner, so that puts a stopper on all pictures that have been sent to me by e-mail (even if I have the audit trail) and ones shown on forums.

That, unfortunately, is about 90% of the media Crying or Very sad There doesn't seem to be any way round it as far as the media is concerned - as I said, the brochures and even SAAB logotype can fall foul of GM/SAAB and I know that one of my online friends was approached by the GM lawyers for placing an oil filter on his bonnet for selling on eBay. Because the SAAB badge could be seen, they maintained that he was selling a product and associating it with their intellectual property Rolling Eyes

I don't want the website to come back online full of disclaimers, apologies and legal notes, either. I think I could restore the main list and have a mouse-over to popup a description.

Unfortunately, the website has raised as much jealousy as it has appreciation and it is the culmination of all that that prompted me to remove it. The last issue was resolved amicably and I think we reached a reasonable level of online friendship. That wasn't the problem - my loss of interest over the last couple of years, due to how hard it was to maintain along with the sum total of bad press, legal issues, hate mail and even death threats Shocked

I didn't "spit my dummy out"; I had to protect myself and my family. I want to pass the site onto a new owner/maintainer, but I have to either pass it on now and leave them to deal with it, or pare it to the bone and pass on only my personal intellectual property.

Bear with me (... there's a bear with me Shocked I'm outta here Laughing ) ... it will return and more quickly if I can get a compromise for now and let the next guy build it up.

I had a really good chat with Steve Lewis today about the website and briefly laid out my problems with bringing it back online. What I want to do is bring the list back ... but the list is no good without the pages and the pages are no good without the pictures.

I am getting things sorted slowly, but surely. Again ... bear with me ... the site will be back soon enough.

Yes I do agree with Henrik : take your time .
I'm really sorry about the troubles you meet to make the website existing .
You're talking about jealousy , that's rubbish !
You should maybe ask Steven some suggestions to make it great !
I've heard saying that Saabhistory had a lot of financial difficulties .
Everything's not pink on Saab planet Sad

Thanks guys ... I really am working on it. Honest Laughing ... but today is my wedding anniversary. I have now been married as long to my second wife as I managed with my first. We're 7 today and will be sipping some good Champagne later on this evening Cool
