As the Grey T16 900 is much faster, more responsive and when accelerating it goes into the red area of the boost gauge - i was wondering if this was down the the APC. Is so, could i swap the APC unit from it with the Carlsson. I would rather have the performance in the Carlsson than the grey 900.

Any ideas - Thanks in advance.

You can swap the APC units the way you like, no problem. But never put a T16 APC-unit in a T8 car or vice verse, they have different knock filter. And of course we have the 1-row VS 2-row boxes but are physically different so no risk for mix hehe Smile

A pal of mine reckons a standard 8V box in his T16 is quicker than a US red box designed for their non-S T16 to raise the power from 160 to 175 BHP Shocked

I'm mixed and matched for years without problems. Yes, the knock settings are different but for all intents and purposes on a 20 year old car it doesn't make a whole world of difference.

Well, actually I have a "T8 Special" box as well, and it gives a hell of a kick in a T16. (but dont tell HenrikG Im using it....) Razz

Just a note of interest - if one decides to swap boxes its possible to have surprise cut-off of the fuel-pump somewhere "in the red" area. The pressure-switch kills the fuelpump at a certain pre-set value. Easy to fix, just hotwire the contacts of the pressure-switch and you are good to go. Its under the dash on T16 cars....

... the other easy way it to simply bypass the vacuum line to the fuel cut off switch. Pull the two vacuum pipes off the switch and push them together.

The electrical components on the switch can be re-used as a cheap "immobiliser" Idea

Well, you can do what you want! But if you really want the knock detection to work use the right box. Maybe you wont feel it during normal driving, but when needed...
