This is a copy and paste from the original at Clean Your Car forums - dated 07/02/2009:
Hi guys - Phew! That was fun. After a week of snow and salt, our cars looked miserable and in dire need of rinsing down at the very least. I checked the weather forecast and at 1 degree I had worried about water freezing, but the sun was blazing and I actually stripped off one of my two jumpers it was so pleasant!
We had blazing sun yesterday and again today and the weather forecast shows me that we've seen the last of the snow, but are to expect freezing temperatures for a while ... down to -10 tonight ... best make sure I dry the cars off well, then and go around the door rubbers with some rubber dressing.
... to business ... white car first and a bucket of warm water with 1 fl oz per gallon of Serious Performance Ultra Gloss Shampoo which is lovely stuff. My car look like it had just come off some snow and ice stage on the WRC, which isn't far from the truth what with me waiting until the idiots were off the road and then bezzing around sideways everywhere Huge fun ... just flick the car sideways with the handbrake and then control the slide with yer loud pedal
I digress ... the underlying Finish Kare products have kept salt well at bay. A simple wash was all that was required to get that gleaming white look back.
... and, of course, the sun went away just as I wanted to get my glamour shots

Black car? Same again, warm water with 1 fl oz per gallon of Serious Performance Ultra Gloss Shampoo.
... and you can have the glamour shot first before I go into a new product I tried out:

After washing down and drying, I noticed some swirling on the boot which I think is thanks to my good lady who cleared the snow off the car with a hand brush She did say she was really careful ... bless Anyway, good old Ash sent me a very generous sample bottle of Duragloss 671 to try out. MY LORD!!! It is sensational
I have really enjoyed the Duragloss 601/105 finish on my white car and had used the 652 pre-cleanser before, but found it a little too abrasive for our black car and much prefer to use Car-Lack68 NSC as a cleanser anyway. I have also read that 671 can be very greasy and it has been put down a little over on DW. Well, I found it a doddle to use and to remove. I used a microfibre pad to apply, spread it around and worked it in a little - it has a good long work time and then I removed the haze with a EuroW towel. It came off with only the slightest of pressure and I did notice the greasiness that has been mentioned. Never mind ... flip the towel over and give it a final buff. Gorgeous! See for yourself:

I noticed that the finish had a creakiness, which made me wonder whether there is some kind of sealant in there too. Also, I noticed that the pad had removed some dirt, so I think there are some cleaners in there too. I think I can best describe this product as a cross between Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze and Meguiars #7 - it is oily and it seems to have a kind of acrylic finish. I know when I had a slightly drunken 'Mad Scientist' session and actually blended Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze and Meguiars #7 the result was very much the same. This seems to have something just a little more, though ... like a professional set of scientists who formulated it, no doubt

So ... thanks Ash. This will be a product that I will certainly get in and can't wait to try it on my white car in a couple of months when I want to try out a Duragloss vs Finish Care product comparison to satisfy myself about which is the King for white cars.
Another one?

I topped that finish with some Rude Wax Super Wet Carnauba Wax - a product I have found seems to deliver Pinnacle-like look in winter I'm hoping for some interesting freezing tonight ... |
